The 3 Fall Events You Can't Miss in Thomasville

To say that fall in Thomasville is a busy season is a massive understatement. This is a very involved town with amazing philanthropy, and fall is packed with fundraising dinners, festivals and events centered around the sporting life.

Dove season comes in September and starts off the hunting season with a bang (no pun intended). As soon as hunters are released into the woods and fields, it's hard to keep up with the seasons that seem to come right on the heels of the one previous—deer, quail, and duck quickly follow.

In addition to several non-profit fundraisers that are really wonderful to attend, there are a few signature cultural events that are a true "can't miss." They typify what it means to live in the Red Hills.

Kevin’s Annual Southern Game Fair

Kevin’s Annual Southern Game Fair celebrates Thomasville’s authentic historical sporting lifestyle by bringing families and community together to promote the preservation of the Longleaf Pine forests and the Bobwhite quail.

Highlights include quail wagon rides, plantation chef demonstrations, helicopter rides, the world-famous Live Oak Hounds and Huntsmen and more.

This charity event benefits Tall Timbers Research Station and Land Conservancy.

Wildlife Arts Festival

The Wildlife Arts Festival is a true celebration of Thomasville's sporting culture during a long weekend in November. It falls on the weekend that starts Georgia's Quail season, with a Fine Art Show, Bird Dog Bash, Rover Rally, art workshops and more.

Burton Brooks Orchards in the Fall

Located an hour away in Barney, almost everyone makes the journey to Burton Brooks Orchards in the summer for their amazing fresh peaches and homemade ice cream. If farm life is your thing, it's definitely worth a trip in the fall too! Burton Brooks Orchards has a charming farm yard with barns and picnic tables shaded by huge trees. Their old packing shed is always filled with fresh fruit, and in the fall has pumpkins, gourds, specialty ice creams and pecans. Worth the drive and a lot of fun with kids!

BONUS: Love Quail hunting?

A few select plantations have opened their land to commercial hunting. They're well-run and we definitely recommend booking a hunt. The Red Hills are world-renowned for quail hunting, and it's an unforgettable experience.

Kevin's of Thomasville has a Quail Trail map, with excellent lodge and hunting recommendations, which you can explore here.
